Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a black rectangular shaped embroidered item arched convexly at top and bottom, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, a yellow stylized Trojan helmet in profile to the right, with maroon details and plume. Attached above the rectangle, a black scroll arched convexly and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, inscribed “PAHRUMP” in yellow letters; attached below the rectangle, a black scroll arched convexly and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, inscribed “VALLEY HS” in yellow letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26cm) in height by 2 3/4 inches (6.96 cm) in width


Symbolism

Gold and maroon are the colors of Pahrump Valley High School. Gold signifies honor, loyalty, and energy. Maroon symbolizes courage and strength. The Trojan helmet represents the school’s mascot, which embodies the cadets’ warrior spirit also exemplifying perseverance and determination against any adversity.

Blazon

On a gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per bend Argent (Silver Gray) and Murrey, in chief a sun Or and in base a stylized Trojan helmet in profile to sinister of the last, plumed Crimson. Attached below the shield, a maroon scroll, doubled crimson inscribed “ONLY THE BEST” in gold letters.


Symbolism

Gold and maroon are the school colors. The color gray alludes to Nevada’s nickname as the “Silver State”, the school’s location. The sun signifies glory, highlighting Nevada’s hot and dry climate. The Trojan helmet represents the school’s mascot, also referring to the name of the JROTC Battalion. As an instrument used for protection, the helmet symbolizes perseverance. In Greek mythology, the Trojans were regarded as an elite force and embodiments of the glory of war as conveyed by the school’s motto “Only the Best.”
