Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

 On a white vertical elliptical shaped embroidered item, issuing from base a Buff demi Leprechaun in a walking stride position to the right and throughout, with yellow hair, brow and beard, white eye, teeth and thumbnail, the pupil of eye, detailed and edged green, on its head a green hat, banded yellow, clothed in a green suit and bowtie, white shirt and yellow vest detailed green, its hands clenched and surmounting a green vertical elliptical designation band, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) yellow border, with the inscription “JOHN F. KENNEDY” above and “HIGH SCHOOL” below in yellow letters. Overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89cm) in height by 3” (7.62cm) in width. 


Symbolism

The school colors are green and gold. The colors also allude to the Irish ancestry of the school’s namesake, President John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. The Leprechaun is the school mascot, representing the independent spirit and vigor of the cadets.

Blazon

On a gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height blazoned as follows: Vert, a chevron Or between in chief three helmets with visors raised of the last and in base a leprechaun’s pot Or charged with a shamrock Proper.  Attached below the shield, a green scroll inscribed “FIGHTING IRISH BATTALION” in gold letters.


Symbolism

The school colors are green and gold. The chevron denotes support which the cadets exhibit within their school and community. The three helmets are adapted from President John F. Kennedy family’s coat of arms, signifying the school’s namesake. The gold pot bearing the shamrock alludes to the school’s mascot, the Leprechaun.
