Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a blue vertical rectangular shaped embroidered item arched convexly at the top and bottom, edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) silver gray border, issuing from the top, a silver gray wavy wedge, point to center, bearing a blue fleur-de-lis and in base a silver gray tarpon fish swimming to the right, its body arched upwards with dark gray pupil, upper body, and details, with silver gray scales. Attached above the rectangle, a blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) silver gray border, inscribed “TARPON.”  Attached   below the rectangle, a blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) silver gray border inscribed “BATTALION” all in silver gray letters.  The overall dimensions are 3-1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2-1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.


Symbolism

The school colors are royal blue and silver. The reversed wavy wedge alludes to the Lafourche Parish, also known as “the fork” of the Mississippi River.  The fleur-de-lis pays homage to the state of Louisiana, as well as its French heritage.  The tarpon fish is the school’s mascot and signifies the school’s fighting spirit.

Blazon

On a silver metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1-1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per pale Azure and Celeste, between two stylized tarpon fish hauriant embowed respectant, a crown all Argent (Silver); on a pile reversed abased of the last, a demi-oil rig issuant from base, between two piles reversed wavy in point out of dexter and sinister base Sable.  Attached below the shield, a blue scroll doubled light blue inscribed “TANT QUE JE PEUX” in silver letters.


Symbolism

The school colors are royal blue and silver. The tarpon fish signifies the school’s fighting spirit; the crown denotes the reward in heaven coming after the trials in life.  The fleur-de-lis on top of the crown pays homage to the state of Louisiana, as well as its French heritage.  The oil rig and black wavy piles allude to the local industries that support the economy in lower Lafourche Parish.  Overall, the shield is a representation of the school’s mission to instill truth, wisdom, knowledge, and creativity to current and future generations.  The school’s motto “Tant Que Je Peux” is in Cajun French, which translates to “All That I Can.”
