Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a contoured Blue background 3 inches in height by 2-3/4 inches in width and edged with a 1/8 inch Red border, a Red rocket ascending from a White smoke formation above the inscription "ROCKCASTLE" arcing in base in Red letters. 


Symbolism

Red, white and blue are the school colors and reflect the cadet’s patriotic standards, providing example in school and community. The rocket is the school mascot and suggests a man-made force for good through exploration' and technology which symbolizes advancement through education.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 16 July 1996.

Blazon

A Silver color metal and enamel device 1-1/8 inch in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per chevron Gules and Azure a cross per chevron surmounted at the junction by a plate pierced of the field, in dexter chief a scroll palewise Argent charged with a mortar board of the field, in second a dexter hand grasping a wreath of the field fimbriated Silver, in third an artist's palette pierced of the field surmounted by brushes bendwise, and in fourth the masks of comedy and tragedy of the last features of the field. Attached below and linked to dexter and sinister chief of the shield a Silver chain flooded Red; a Blue scroll turned Silver and inscribed “ROCKCASTLE" in Silver letters.


Symbolism

Red, white and blue are the school colors and reflect the patriotic standard that is upheld by the school and community. The shield represents the cadets as defenders of their ideals. The charges of the shield reflect the ideals of a well-rounded education. The chain symbolizes the bond of the cadets based on their ideals which strengthen the battalion, school and community.
