Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a white disc shaped embroidered item, edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) purple border, three gold chevronels and a fourth below couped, overall a purple stylized eagle’s head facing right, eye and upper head detail in white, beak and garnished gold, all between the arched inscription “RICHARDSON” at the top and “EAGLES SOAR” at the bottom in purple letters.  Overall diameter is 3 inches (7.62 cm).


Symbolism

The school colors are purple and gold symbolizing unity and honor.  The eagle is the school mascot, a symbol of intelligence, leadership, and strength.  The chevronels rise upwards to suggest the updraft lifting the eagle high above the storms of life, soaring with ease.  The chevronels further allude to leadership and service, encouraging students to excel in academic and athletic programs.  The motto “Eagles Soar” refer to the cadets rising above adversity.

Blazon

On a gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1-1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in width blazoned as follows: Purpure, a pile nebuly throughout Or, surmounted by a pile of the first, superimposed with an eagle displayed bearing a mullet on its chest of the second, in chief a lamp of the last.  Attached below the shield, a Purple scroll, with ends of scroll gold and inscribed “RICHARDSON” in gold letters.


Symbolism

The school colors are purple and gold, symbolizing unity and honor.  The eagle is a symbol of intelligence, leadership, and strength, bearing the Lone Star of Texas on its chest.  The heraldic pile nebuly signifies an updraft of air and clouds, lifting the eagle high above the storms of life, soaring with ease.  The Lamp of Knowledge denotes academic excellence and achievement.  Overall, the shield represents the school and its students, a community of outstanding citizens.
