Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a dark blue disc shaped embroidered item, a horizontally placed gray patterned partition of a Greek key through the center, at top three white lightning bolts, one vertically placed at center between two diagonally placed, from upper left to lower right and upper right to lower left and below a dark blue wavy base; all within a circular white designation band, edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) dark blue border, with the inscriptions “LORAIN HIGH SCHOOL” at the top and “TITANS” at the bottom in dark blue letters.  Overall diameter are 3-1/4” (8.26 cm).


Symbolism

White and navy are the school’s colors.  The three lightning bolts signify the three schools merged into Lorain High School.  The Greek key partition represents the Titans, the school’s mascot. Furthermore, this element illustrates the cadets’ steadfast and unwavering commitment to the program.  The wavy base suggests Lake Erie, a major geographical landmark of Lorain, Ohio and the location of the school. The wavy base also emphasizes the composure and the willingness to adapt, which is required of cadets.

Blazon

On a silver metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1-1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Azure (Dark blue), issuant from base a demi Ionic column Argent (Silver); on a chief lowered Argent, a Greek key pattern of the second.  Attached below the shield, a blue scroll inscribed “FACTA NON-VERBA” in silver letters.


Symbolism

White and navy are the school’s colors. White symbolizes integrity; navy (dark blue) denotes confidence and solidary. The Greek key and Ionic column signify the school’s mascot, the Titans, alluding to the shape of the letter “T”. The Latin motto “FACTA NON-VERBA” translates to, “Deeds, not words.”
