Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a vertical rectangular shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) green border divided diagonally top right to bottom left, black over white, a stylized hornet a stylized green hornet attacking, positioned to the right, with silver gray wings, legs, stinger, antenna, and details and its eye in black.  Attached above the item a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) green border, inscribed “PEMBERTON” in green letters.  Attached below the item a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) green border, inscribed “TOWNSHIP” in green letters. Overall dimensions are 3-1/4 inches (8.26cm) in height by 2-3/4 inches (5.72cm) in width.


Symbolism

Green and white are the school colors.  The black denotes the cadets’ steadfastness. The school’s mascot, the green hornet, suggests a diligent and determined spirit.  The stinger alludes to the willingness to defend and protect. The four white stripes on the body represent the school’s core values: empathy, perseverance, integrity, and gratitude.

Blazon

On a gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1-1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Or, on a pile Sable, a lightning bolt of the first, all between two flaunches gridlined Vert. Attached below the shield, a black scroll inscribed “HORNET BATTALION” in gold letters.


Symbolism

Green and white are the colors of Pemberton Township High School.  The shield illustrates the head of a hornet, the school’s mascot.  The two flaunches (inward arched sides of the shield) highlight the school’s emphasis to instill virtue and knowledge. The black pile resembles a hornet’s stinger and symbolizes endurance.  The lightning bolt signifies mental and physical strength. Black represents dedication and commitment to the school’s core values.
