Blazon

On a shield-shaped embroidered item, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) dark blue border,  blazoned as follows: Quarterly Argent and Argent (Silver Gray), a stylized vigilante head affronté of the first eyes and eyebrows Azure (Dark Blue), pupil of eyes of the first, face shadowing of the second, on his head a cowboy hat of the third, garnished of the second, covering his nose and mouth a bandana of the last edged Azure (Dark Blue). Attached above the shield, a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) dark blue border inscribed “VIGILANTES” in dark blue letters. Overall dimensions are 3-1/2 inches (8.89cm) height and 2-23/32 inches width (6.91cm).


Symbolism

The school colors are navy blue and silver, signifying pride, honor, and respect.  The quarterly division of the shield alludes to unity and teamwork.  Montana has a history of vigilantes who undertook law enforcement in their communities to bring order.  The mascot for the school was named in recognition of these vigilantes, who are a symbol of courage and leadership. The school motto “Success for All” denotes academic achievement and opportunity for all students in East Helena High School.

Blazon

On a silver metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1-1/4 inches (3.18cm) in height blazoned as follows: Azure (Dark Blue), a pile per fesse dancetté enhanced Argent and Argent (Silver), the center point extending higher, bearing a mullet within an annulet of the first, the end of the pile enfiled by a demi-lasso issuant from sinister base Or.  Attached below the shield, a dark blue scroll doubled white and inscribed “EAST HELENA” in silver letters.


Symbolism

The school colors are navy blue and silver, signifying pride, honor, and respect.  The heraldic pile forms the letter “V” which refers to the school’s mascot the Vigilantes, and the dancette within it suggests the high peaks of the Rocky Mountains.  Montana has a history of vigilantes who undertook law enforcement in their communities to bring order.  The ringed star symbol pays tribute to those vigilantes and it further alludes to courage and leadership.  The lasso is a symbol of unity and a tool used by cowboys, ranchers, and mule and horse packers of the west.  The school motto “Success for All” denotes academic achievement and opportunity for all students in East Helena High School.
