Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

Upon a circular shaped embroidered item 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) purple border, a silver gray disc superimposed by a stylized black hawk’s head, in a 3/4 position detailed in teal, and highlighted in white. All encircled by a white designation band inscribed “SILVERADO” in purple letters.


Symbolism

The colors Purple and Teal are the colors of Silverado High School. Teal symbolizes high-spiritedness and purple combines the calm energy of blue with the courage of red. The Skyhawk is the school’s mascot and embodies the intuition and wisdom of Skyhawk Battalion cadets.

Blazon

On a silver metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Tierced in pairle reversed Azure (Teal), in dexter chief an open book surmounted by a rolled document bendwise and in sinister chief, above a painter’s palette, a laughing mask of theater, all beneath a musical lyre, in base five rings arching to base, an enflamed torch superimposed upon the center ring, all in Silver Gray. Perched upon the
shield a Skyhawk essorant, its dexter wing dipped just in front of the sinister side of the shield, in silver. Flowing from the dexter side of the shield, a Purple scroll inscribed “EXCELLENCE” in silver letters.


Symbolism

Purple and teal are the Silverado High School colors. The division of the shield organizes the many activities and goals of the Skyhawk Battalion cadets. The open book and rolled document represent the education received and the diploma awarded at graduation, respectively. The lyre, mask, and palette symbolize the arts and extracurricular activities. The
enflamed torch denotes the enduring spirit of the Skyhawk Battalion. Five silver rings characterize the pursuit of excellence and further refer to the school’s motto, "EXCELLENCE.”
