Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a black rectangle arced at the top and bottom a white chevron issuing from base interlaced by a gold eagle with a white head, detailed black; attached above and below the rectangle two black scrolls inscribed "ATHENS" above and "EAGLES" below in gold letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height and all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) gold border, the overall dimensions 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
The school colors are old gold, black and white. The chevron symbolizes strength and alludes to the letter "A" and the school name. The eagle is the school mascot.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 6 August 1985.

Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned: Sable, a saltire between an open book, a lyre surmounted by a palette, five annulets conjoined fesswise, and a scroll surmounted by a quill all Or; attached below the shield a Black scroll doubled White, inscribed "ATHENS" in Gold letters.

Symbolism
The school colors are gold, black and white. The design is an adaptation of the school's coat of arms.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 6 August 1985.
