Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a purple disc with 3 inches (7.62 cm) edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border, a tomahawk crossed diagonally with a peace pipe behind a vertical pike, all white and surmounted by a yellow lamp, between the inscription "PIKE COUNTY" arched above and "HIGH SCHOOLS" below in yellows overall demission are 5/16 ( cm) in height.

Symbolism
The tomahawk and peace pipe symbolize the Indian heritage of the area and allude to the two high schools using the shoulder sleeve insignia. The pike is a symbol for the military aspects of the JROTC program and also alludes to the name Pike County. The lamp represents learning and leadership. Purple, white and yellow are colors of two schools.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 9 January 1985.
