Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a blue rectangle arced at top and bottom with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border a yellow bear's head affront detailed gold brown with red eyes and mouth, attached above an arced blue scroll inscribed "BARTLETT" and attached below an arced blue scroll inscribed "BEARS" in yellow letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height and all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in width overall.

Symbolism
Blue and gold (yellow) are the school colors and the bear's head refers to the school's mascot, a "golden bear."

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 27 July 1984.




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall, consisting of a gold bear rising over a white mountain peak bearing a blue star, all enclosed by a blue scroll inscribed "ALWAYS OUT FRONT" at top and "BARTLETT" in base in gold letters.

Symbolism
Blue and gold are the school colors and the mascot is a Golden Bear. The mountain peak represents Mount McKinley and refers to the unit's location; the star also refers to Alaska. The star, alluding to the North Star, symbolizes excellence and leadership.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 6 June 1985.
