Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A grotto blue vertical rectangle embroidered device arched convexly at top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) scarlet border, an Alaskan flag in background with a polar bear in foreground walking on snow, leaving behind footprints. Attached above the rectangle, an ultramarine blue scroll inscribed "NANOOK" in white letters and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) scarlet border. Attached below the rectangle, an ultramarine blue scroll inscribed "BATTALION" in white letters and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) scarlet border. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Red, blue and white are the schools colors. The polar bear is the school mascot.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 20 October 2004.

Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Quarterly Gules and Azure, in dexter chief a gold pan and a pick ax in saltire Silver, in sinister chief a pair of polar bear paw prints Silver, in dexter base a pair of polar bear paw prints Silver, in sinister base the Iditarod Arch Silver. Below and at the sides of the shield three Silver and Blue scrolls inscribed "NAGUNIGUQ" "IGSIIZUITUAQ" "PIUMINAQTUAQ" in Silver metal letters.

Symbolism
Red, blue and white are the school colors. The polar bear is the school mascot.
