A yellow rectangular device with a yellow arced scroll attached above and below, all edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, the overall dimensions 3 5/8 inches (9.21 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width; on the rectangle below an arced rainbow red above blue, four stylized mountains palewise one, two and one, the top mountain black, the mountain in dexter yellow edged black, the mountain in sinister white, and the mountain in base blue. On the top scroll the inscription "CHINLE" and on the bottom scroll "HIGH SCHOOL" in black letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 28 November 1979.
