Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
A shield shaped insignia with arced scroll attached above the shield, 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width overall, consisting of a black shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) green border, on which is a green representation of the bell tower of the original school building. On a black scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) green border, the inscription "BELMONT" in green letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved 18 September 1975.
Shoulder Loop Insignia
A gold color metal and enamel insignia 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield divided horizontally into two equal halves green over black, the lower half bearing a gold demi-sun in splendor surmounted by a gold bear on a green mound. Attached below the shield an arced green scroll inscribed "LOS ANGELES USD" in gold letters.
The shoulder loop insignia was originally approved 20 November 1931. It was amended on 10 May 1976 to add a motto scroll.
