Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A shield-shaped device with arced scroll attached above the shield, overall dimensions 3 3/4 inches (9.53 cm) in height and 3 1/8 inches (7.94 cm) in width, consisting of a white background on which is a red bulldog's head couped detailed white within a red band around the shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border. Attached above the shield a red arced scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border and inscribed "CENTENNIAL" in white letters 7/16 inch (1.11 cm) in height.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia originally authorized 17 August 1971, was amended 24 March 1989, to add subdued colors and metric dimensions. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-125)

Description
A Silver metal and enamel device 1-1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Quartered and counterchanged Gules and Sable by a cross diminished, in the first quarter a lamp of knowledge of the second, inflamed of the first, in the second quarter a Bulldogs head coupe at the neck, spiked and collared, in the third quarter a scroll bendwise detailed of the second, and in the last quarter a graduation cap, conjoined to the shield at base a book of knowledge opened faced all Argent. On the dexter side of a scroll Sable inscribed CANINUS in Silver letters and on the sinister side of a scroll Sable inscribed SUPREMUS in Silver letters.

Symbolism
Red and white are the school colors.  Red is symbolic of the patriotism and courage of cadets as leaders in the school and the community, white represents purity and truth which reflects on pride and strength of the cadets to succeed in all endeavors. The lamp symbolizes knowledge. The Bulldog is the schools mascot. The scroll represents literature and achievement. The scholars cap signifies the common sense in pursuit of goals.
