Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A shield-shaped device with a horizontal scroll attached above the shield, all edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border; the overall dimensions 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width. On a white shield, a red and white adaption of a tower clock issuing from base, detailed and outlined black, surmounting a black outlined mountain. Issuing from sinister chief, three yellow rays on a white scroll, the inscription "EAST" in red letters.

Symbolism
Red and white are the school's colors. The clock tower is the school building at East High School.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia originally authorized 12 March 1973, was amended 17 July 1992, to add subdued colors and metric measurements. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-269)




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel insignia 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield divided into a light blue sky and dark blue mountains in base, issuing from base diagonally on the viewer's left a silver hand grasping a red enamel torch enflamed. Attached below the shield a blue enamel scroll inscribed "AD DISCENDUM DUCERE" in silver letters. (SLI is for Denver High Schools, now Denver School District.)

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 8 July 1975.
