Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a shield-shaped embroidered device with a rounded base edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Ultramarine Blue border blazoned as follows: Argent, throughout an apple with a stem leaf and nine barrulets voiding the apple in chief Bronze, surmounting the apple a palm tree and sun voided to the field. Attached above the shield, a White scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Ultramarine Blue border inscribed "BROWARD COUNTY" in Ultramarine Blue letters. The device is 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
The apple with palm tree and sun is the school district's device.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia authorized 20 November 1995 was cancelled. The new shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 1 November 2007 for all Broward County Schools.

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall consisting of a dark red disc bearing a gold paw print of a cougar all within a gold tripartite scroll inscribed "HONOR" "AND" "DIGNITY" in dark red letters.

Symbolism
Gold and garnet are the school colors. The cougar is the school mascot.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 20 November 1995.
