Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a shield-shaped embroidered device with a rounded base edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Ultramarine Blue border blazoned as follows: Argent, throughout an apple with a stem leaf and nine barrulets voiding the apple in chief Bronze, surmounting the apple a palm tree and sun voided to the field. Attached above the shield, a White scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Ultramarine Blue border inscribed "BROWARD COUNTY" in Ultramarine Blue letters. The device is 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
The apple with palm tree and sun is the school district's device.

Background
The shoulder sleeve approved 1 June 2006 was cancelled. The new shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 1 November 2007 for all Broward County Schools.




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver gray color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height by 1 1/16 inches (2.70 cm) in width, consisting of a black field charged with a red sun, over which are two alligators combatant translucent green, underneath two cattails rising to the right and left sides of the sun. Attached below a red scroll inscribed "GATORS" in sliver gray letters.

Symbolism
Silver gray and black are the school. The alligator is the school mascot. The sun represents excellence. The cattails signify the everglades.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 1 June 2006.
