Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a shield-shaped embroidered device with a rounded base edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Ultramarine Blue border blazoned as follows: Argent, throughout an apple with a stem leaf and nine barrulets voiding the apple in chief Bronze, surmounting the apple a palm tree and sun voided to the field. Attached above the shield, a White scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Ultramarine Blue border inscribed "BROWARD COUNTY" in Ultramarine Blue letters. The device is 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
The apple with palm tree and sun is the school district's device.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia authorized 2 November 2004 was cancelled. The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 1 November 2007 for all Broward County Schools.

Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Vert, between two laurel branches in base a torch Argent, enflamed Tenn, detailed and fimbriated of the second. The shield is ensigned with a Mustang's head couped at the neck also Argent (base metal). Attached below the shield a Green scroll turned Silver and inscribed "McARTHUR" in base metal letters.

Symbolism
Orange, green and white are the school colors. The laurel branches symbolize achievement in all school endeavors. The torch and flame symbolize excellence in academic pursuits. The Mustang head alludes to the school's tradition of riding a horse onto the football field. The school's mascot is the "Mustang."

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 2 November 2004.
