Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A yellow disc 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter overall, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, centered on which is a black Mustang rearing on a black mound, encircled by a yellow band inscribed "MERRITT ISLAND" at the top and "HIGH SCHOOL" in base in black letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 21 January 1972.




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal device 1 5/16 inches (3.33 cm) in width overall consisting of two tilted overlapping horseshoes forming a center filled with black enamel and inscribed "MERRITT ISLAND" in black letters on the bottom of each arch and superimposed at center with a Mustang in full gallop to the left.

Symbolism
Black and gold are the school colors. The Mustang is the school mascot. The horseshoe is also a symbol used by the school.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 31 August 2004.
