Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On an orange rectangular shield, arched convexly on top and concavely at the bottom, with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, an orange Native American's head in profile with white and black headdress. Attached above the shield, an orange scroll with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "MIAMI" in black letters. Attached below the shield, an orange scroll with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "CAROL CITY" in black letters. Overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height and 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Black and orange are the school colors. The school mascot is symbolized by a Native American in war bonnet. The warrior mascot reflects the determination and noble spirit identified with the indigenous Native American population. These attributes are also associated with the cadets' commitment to their school, community, and country.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved 5 May 1995.




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a background per saltire gold and black within a black scroll inscribed "PRIDE AND" at top and "LEADERSHIP" in base; overall an orange lance and war axe in saltire surmounted by a gold sun radiant.

Symbolism
Orange and black are the school colors. The lance and war axe are symbolic of the determination, pride, and warrior spirit demonstrated by the Seminole Indian tribe which inhabited the area. They are also symbolic of the cadets' pride in and commitment to community. The sun suggests the State of Florida.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved 5 May 1995.
