Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On an orange vertical rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, a black hawk with a white eye. Attached above a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "SPRUCE" in black letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height and attached below a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "CREEK" in black letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.

Symbolism
Orange and white are the school colors. The hawk is the school's mascot.

Description/Blazon
A Gold metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inch (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Quarterly Tenn, in the first quarter a lyre, in the second quarter a winged foot, in the third quarter a lamp flamant and in the fourth quarter a scroll all Or. Attached on each side of the shield is a Hawk rising wings elevated and addorsed of the like, overall at top a Black scroll inscribed "HAWKS" and at bottom a Black scroll inscribed "SPRUCE CREEK" all in base metal letters.

Symbolism
Black and orange are the school colors. The hawk is the school's mascot and symbolizes a readiness for battle, fearlessness, courage, perseverance, bravery and cleverness. The school's motto is: "HAWK SOAR" and stands for Service to our community, Opportunity abound for each student, Academic preparation, and Responsibility for our actions. Spruce Creek High School, built in 1975, was the first high school in the city of Port Orange, Florida. The city and community take great pride in the school's academic and competitive accomplishments.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 28 July 2009.
