Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
A yellow shield-shaped insignia, the overall dimensions 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in width, all edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) purple border, charged with a bugle fesswise surmounted by a rifle and sheathed sabre saltirewise purple. Attached below the shield a yellow scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) purple border and inscribed "ACADEMY OF RICHMOND COUNTY" in purple letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.
The shoulder sleeve insignia originally approved 12 August 1959 was amended 9 September 1959 to correct the color of the border, shield and lettering. It was amended again on 26 March 1991 to add subdued colors and metric measurements.
Shoulder Loop Insignia
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width, consisting of a shield blazoned: Purpure (Purple), a bugle fesswise surmounted by a rifle and a sheathed sabre saltirewise Or. Attached below the shield a White scroll inscribed "ANTIQUISSIMUS" in Gold and upon the ends of the scroll the Purple numerals "17" in dexter and "83" in sinister.
The shoulder loop insignia originally approved 12 August 1959 was amended 26 March 1991 to update the description and include metric measurements.
