A Silver colored metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall, consisting of a peace pipe and a tomahawk in saltire, feathers pendant from each supporting a shield blazoned: "Quarterly Argent and White, in the first an open book surmounted by a quill pen bendwise point to base, a harp in the second, a winged foot bendwise toe to base in the third and a gear wheel in the fourth all counterchanged. A chief Sable, ensigned with the stylized head of a Catamount affront Gules, dented of the like, detailed of the first". Attached below the shield, a Red scroll, ends turned silver to base, inscribed "KNOW THE TRUTH" in Silver metal letters.
Red and white are the school colors. The Catamount is a native animal to the North West Georgia Mountains and is the school mascot. The tomahawk and peace pipe with feathers represent the Native Americans who originally inhabited this area of the United States. Inside the shield, the four standard elements of book and quill represent knowledge, the harp symbolizes the arts, the winged foot represents athletics, and the cog wheel symbolizes technology.
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 2 February 2004.
