A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of an arched shield blazoned: Gules, a chief dancetty of three Argent, an axe and rifle in saltire Argent surmounted by a hammer palewise Azure. Attached below the shield, a Silver scroll inscribed "ELBERT COUNTY" in Blue letters.
The red portion of the dancetty suggests the red clay hills of Georgia and reflects the locale of the school. The rifle and axe denote the pioneers who settled the area and also reflect the cadet's heritage and military training. The hammer represents the area's granite quarry and finishing and shipping port.
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 16 December 1992.
