Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel shield shaped device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: "Azure, a prism between a lyre in the first, an atomic symbol in the second, a winged foot in the third and a lamp in the fourth all Argent." Attached above the shield, a Titan holding a lightning flash, and on either side of the shield, a Greek column of the last. Attached below the shield a Blue scroll inscribed "NORTHVIEW" in Silver letters.

Symbolism
Navy blue and gray are the school colors. The Greek columns depict strength and protection. The prism represents purity of knowledge. The lyre pertains to music, drama and art. The atomic symbol indicates progress through technology and science. The winged foot is for athletics and sportsmanship. The lamp symbolizes knowledge and education.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 9 December 2005.
