Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a red shield, a knight in black armor plumed and detailed white, riding a black horse caparisoned red and grasping a black and red pennant. Attached above the shield, a black scroll inscribed "AUBURN" in white letters. All within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Red and black are the school's colors. The school mascot is a mounted knight, reflecting the school nickname "Auburn Knights". The knight symbolizes the cadets' dedication to duty and loyalty as citizens.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 5 April 1993.

Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a green shield with a silver wavy vertical bar throughout, bearing an evergreen tree; above a curved green scroll inscribed "ROCKFORD" in silver letters.

Symbolism
The color green and the evergreen tree indicate the nickname of Rockford, the "FOREST CITY". The wavy bar symbolizes the Rock River which runs through the city of Rockford.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 5 December 1984.
