Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a silver gray rectangle arced at top and bottom a blue, white, and black Blue Jay; and attached below the rectangle a silver gray scroll inscribed "BLUE JAYS" in blue letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, the overall dimensions 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height and 2 3/8 inches (6.03 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Blue and white are the school colors and silver gray is traditionally associated with ROTC organizations. The "BLUE JAY" is the school mascot and symbolizes the strength, boldness, and pride of a military unit.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 11 March 1986. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-24)

Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel shield shaped device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall blazoned: Azure, bordure Sable, divided per pairle reversed of chain links, debruised by a daisy in honor point, in dexter chief a lyre surmounted by a mask, in sinister chief a winged foot, in base a book surmounted by a torch all Argent. Attached above, an arc checked Blue under a Blue scroll bearing the head of a Blue Jay in profile and inscribed "BLUE JAYS" in base metal letters.

Symbolism
Blue, white, and black are the school colors. The Blue Jay is the school mascot.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 20 February 2009.
