Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a shield 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in width blazoned: Or a buffalo Brown horned of the first below in chief a bar dancetty Argent inscribed "SOUTHEAST" in Black letters all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border.

Symbolism
Black and yellow are the school colors. The bison is the school mascot and reflects the cadets' tenacity, knowledge and strength of body and character. The dancetty bar resembles the letter "W" and reflects the school's location.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 21 July 1998.

Description

On a shield shaped Gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Per saltire, Sable semée de billets and Argent, overall a roundel per bend Or and Sable, surmounted by a stylized buffalo’s head cabossed of the last. Attached below the shield is a Gold triparted scroll with the inscription “BEST OF THE BEST” in black letters.


Symbolism

Black, and white are the school colors. Gold represents excellence, honor and intellect. Black is associated with the cadet’s determination to succeed in all endeavors. White conveys perfection and truth. The quadrants represent four of the JROTC core elements: honor, leadership, professionalism, and officer advancement. The pattern of couped vertical bars characterizes the Alma Mater, in which describes pausing throughout the year to express appreciation for the school. The black and gold circle at center is a representation of placing unity and academics above all. The buffalo is the school’s mascot, suggests tenacity as well as strength of body and character.
