Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border blazoned: A wyvern erect Azure grasping in its claws a chain Sable. Attached above the shield a white scroll edged with a narrow blue border inscribed in blue letters "DERIDDER." The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Blue and white are the school colors. The dragon (wyvern) is the school mascot. The wyvern grasping the chain symbolizes the cadets as a unit, linked to school, community, and country.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 24 May 1996. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-485)

Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel shield blazoned: Quartered Azure and Argent; first two hands bendwise grasping a torch bendwise sinister Argent; second an open book Azure; third a winged foot bendwise of the last; fourth an hourglass bendwise sinister of the second. Attached below the shield a silver triparted scroll inscribed "TODAY" "DECIDES" "TOMORROW" in Blue letters.

Symbolism
Blue and white (silver) are the school colors. The hands on the torch reflect the passing of knowledge from faculty to students. The book symbolizes the key to education. The winged foot represents a healthy body. The hourglass denotes the cadets' future using the skills attained.

The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 14 May 1996.
