Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a rectangle arced at the top and bottom, divided diagonally from upper left to lower right gray and blue, a white saber diagonally crossed by a white musket superimposed by a black tricorn hat detailed white; attached above the rectangle a gray scroll inscribed "MAGRUDER" in blue letters and attached below a blue scroll inscribed "COLONELS" in gray letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height and all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border the overall dimensions 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
The school colors are blue and gray. The saber, musket and tricorn hat represent the Revolutionary Army to which Colonel Zadok Magruder belonged.

Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device consisting of a shield blazoned: Per bend Azure and Argent a Patriot's head couped Sable. Attached below the shield and turned Silver up the sides a Blue scroll inscribed "MAGRUDER" in base.

Symbolism
Blue and silver reflect the school colors. The Patriot's head in colonel dress suggests the school nickname and alludes to Colonel Zadok Magruder for whom the school is named.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 25 January 1989.
