A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.86 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned: Per fess Gules sem-de-lis Argent and Celeste; in dexter chief a bend Sable charged with a mullet and a double-rayed sun of the third; in sinister chief a saltire of the fourth; in base a cross bottony quartered White and Black. Attached above the shield a Light Blue scroll turned Silver and inscribed "VIRTUTE NON VERBIS" in Silver letters.
Light blue and crimson red are the school colors. The cross bottony suggests the Maryland State flag and denotes the school's location. The star and sun on the bend represent the universe; the bend itself represents the future. The fleurs-de-lis symbolize the attributes of truth, virtue, integrity, and knowledge. The saltire indicates the path, leading in all directions, the cadets' face in the perpetual pursuit of these qualities.
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 22 February 1995.
