Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a red rectangular embroidered device arched convexly at the top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, the head of a colonial patriot in natural colors attired with a blue tri-corner hat and ribbon, highlighted white. Attached above the rectangle a natural color scroll edged blue and inscribed "PATAPSCO" in blue letters. Attached below the device, another natural color scroll inscribed "PATRIOTS" in blue letters. Overall dimensions of the insignia are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Red, white and blue are the school colors. The Patriot represents the Minute Man that fought in the Defense of Baltimore during the Battle of North Point in the War of 1812 and is the school's mascot.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 13 January 2004.




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color shield-shaped metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height and width blazoned: Gules, two pales Argent, on a chief convex Azure, between two white mullets a patriot reversed, enhanced and couped at the neck Argent (Silver Gray), on his head, ensigned above the shield, a tricorn hat of the third. Attached across the shield, a Blue arched scroll inscribed "PATAPSCO HIGH SCHOOL" in base metal letters.

Symbolism
Red, white and blue are the school colors and evokes the patriotism, embodied by the school mascot.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 13 January 2004.
