Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A shield shaped embroidered device arched on all three sides and having the top corners cropped diagonally to a top width of 2 1/8 inches (5.40 cm), consisting of a field blazoned "Per fess Or and Azure, a chief quartered of the like surmounted by a cross bottony countersigned throughout, a base paly of six, a bend dexter counterchanged within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Blue border. Attached above the shield, a Yellow scroll inscribed "WICOMICO" in Blue letters, with the bottom corners cropped to fit top of shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Blue border. Overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) by 2 3/8 inches (6.99 cm) in width all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Blue border.

Symbolism
Blue and gold are the school colors. The arrowhead shape alludes to the Wicomico Indians for which the school is named. A portion of the Maryland State flag in blue and gold denotes the cadets' dedication to support and defend their homeland night and day.

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of two tomahawks in saltire surmounted by an Indian's head decorated with two feathers detailed blue, all upon a transparent gold tee-pee and between a banner with feathered ends detailed blue above, inscribed "WICOMICO" and a blue canoe below, inscribed "HIGH SCHOOL" in base metal letters.

Symbolism
Blue and gold are the school colors. The Indian theme of the device is representational of the Wicomico Indians, for which the school is named, and alludes to the cadets' courage and convictions to support their school, community and country, symbolized by the tomahawks, tee-pee, and canoe.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 8 December 2004.
