Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a shield-shaped embroidered device blazoned: "Quarterly Azure and Argent, a chevalier traversed, armed and carrying in dexter hand a tilting lance bendwise sinister, upon a horse forcene and barded Silver Gray. All within a diminished border Or". Attached above the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed "LANCERS" in White letters, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Yellow border. Overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width to include a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Yellow over edge border.

Symbolism
The Lancer, a medieval mounted knight on a horse with a lance, traditionally represents the spirit guiding the body, and the lance represents strength and wisdom piercing ignorance.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 22 May 2002.

On a Silver colored metal and enamel shield-shaped device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned: "Azure, a chevalier traversed, armed and carrying in dexter hand a tilting lance bendwise sinister, upon a horse forcene and barded Argent". Attached above the shield a White scroll inscribed "LANCERS" in Silver letters and edged with a Silver border.

Symbolism
The Lancer, a medieval mounted knight on a horse with a lance, traditionally represents the spirit guiding the body, and the lance represents strength and wisdom piercing ignorance. The school colors are blue and white.
