On a shield-shaped embroidered device blazoned: "Quarterly Azure and Argent, a chevalier traversed, armed and carrying in dexter hand a tilting lance bendwise sinister, upon a horse forcene and barded Silver Gray. All within a diminished border Or". Attached above the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed "LANCERS" in White letters, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Yellow border. Overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width to include a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Yellow over edge border.
The Lancer, a medieval mounted knight on a horse with a lance, traditionally represents the spirit guiding the body, and the lance represents strength and wisdom piercing ignorance.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 22 May 2002.
