Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
An embroidered shield shaped device 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 3/8 inches (6.03 cm) in width blazoned: Quartered Vert and Or, four mullets in chief above a flambeau crowned by five flames between two erect addorsed lightning bolts bent once to dexter and sinister points to base both throughout its quarter, all counterchanged to the field. Attached above the shield, a Yellow horizontally rectangular scroll inscribed "VESSEY" in Green letters. All edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Green border.

Symbolism
Gold and green are the school's colors. The four stars represent the four academy tenets of knowledge, character, leadership and discipline and serves as a tribute to General Vessey for whom the academy was named. The torch represents learning and knowledge. The shield symbolizes strength. The lightning bolts represent the power gained through education and experience.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 4 November 2004.




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a gold torch with a maroon flame flanked by two stars on each side, superimposed over the torch is an open book, flanking the base of the torch are two maroon twin silhouettes facing outward flanked by a pair of green wings. Attached above and on the sides, a green scroll inscribed "VESSEY LEADERSHIP ACADEMY" in base metal letters.

Symbolism
Green and gold are the school's colors. The four stars represent the four academy tenets of knowledge, character, leadership and discipline and serves as a tribute to General Vessey for whom the academy was named. The torch represents learning and knowledge. The twin faces are reminiscent of the twin cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis. The wings are symbolic of the manner by which education constructively uplifts and liberates.

The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 4 November 2004.
