Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
An embroidered circular device consisting of a gold disk displaying the head of a black cat with gold teeth and eyes detailed silver gray and smoke. Above the cat is the inscription "BLACKCAT" in black letters. Below the cat is the inscription "BATTALION" in black letters. The entire device is edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border. The overall dimension is 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter.

Symbolism
Black and gold are the school's colors. The school's mascot is the black cat and symbolizes swiftness, ferocity, strength, and dignity.

Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Or, in base pick tools in saltire Sable; a chief per pale of the like thereon to dexter a fleur-de-lis and to sinister a Latin cross all of the last. Attached above the shield, a cat crouching sinister arm grasping toward base Black. Attached below the shield, a Black scroll inscribed in Latin "POSTERUS EST VOS" which means "The Future is You" in English in base metal letters.

Symbolism
Black and gold are the school's colors. The cat is the school's mascot and represents swiftness, ferocity, strength, and dignity. The fleur-de-lis represents Fredericktown's French heritage. The cross symbolizes the community's Christian heritage. The mining tools allude to the area's mining of lead, copper, and cobalt.
