Description

On a yellow vertical rectangular-shaped embroidered item arched convexly at the top and bottom, issuing from base a stylized demi-Scottish Highlander in 3/4 profile facing right, its face buff with brown facial hair, wearing a green cap with yellow plume, clothed in green attire with green sash garnished in yellow, all detailed and edged in black.  Attached above the rectangle, a yellow arched scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) green border inscribed “HIGHLANDER” in green letters.  The overall dimensions are 3-1/2 inches (8.89cm) in height and 2-1/2 inches (6.35cm) in width.

The primary school colors are green and gold, suggesting courage and honor.  Green further alludes to the mountainous landscape in the Tahoe area, while gold refers to the gold rush events that happened in the 1850s.  The Highlander, also known as Mac Ferguson, originates from the Highlands of Scotland and is the school’s mascot.  He inspires bold and determined characteristics, and stands proudly as a symbol of integrity, humanity, and scholarship.

On a gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1-1/4 inches (3.18cm) in height blazoned as follows: Quarterly, I and IV pily counter-pily of seven Azure and Or and in II and III Vert, two pallet and two barrulets conjoined Vert (Myrtle Green), edged of the second, at each point of intersection, a square Gules.  Attached below the shield, a gold bi-partite scroll inscribed “INCLINE HIGHLANDERS” in green letters.

Symbolism

The primary school colors are green and gold, suggesting courage and honor.  The three gold peaks on the first and fourth quarter allude to the Sierra Mountains, as well as the Highlands of Scotland; and blue referring to the Flag of Scotland.  The second and third quarter bear a stylized Scottish kilt pattern, representing the school’s mascot The Highlander.  The kilt is a traditional dress uniform worn to demonstrate patriotism and honor for the clan they came from.  The Highlander, also known as Mac Ferguson, inspires bold and determined characteristics.  This symbol of pride also refers to the school’s mission and beliefs: to provide a rigorous, supportive, and safe environment to students, and to promote integrity, humanity, and scholarship.
