Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon

A shield blazoned: Per bend sinister Sanguine and Argent a bendlet sinister counterchanged, between two wildcat prints counterchanged of the field. Attached above the shield a White scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Maroon border and inscribed FMRHS in Maroon letters, the overall dimensions are 2 7/8 inches (7.30 cm) in height by 2 1/8 inches (5.40 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Maroon and white are the school colors. The paw prints suggest the wildcat, the school mascot, and imply the cadets dedication to school, community and country. The counterchanged shield symbolizes the schools advancements in education to effect transitions for the future.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 29 March 2000, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 16 February 2017. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-610)

Description

A Gold colored metal and epoxied shield shaped device, 1 3/16 (3.02 cm) in height overall blazoned as follows: Per saltire Argent and Sanguine, in chief a wildcats head erased, in 3/4 position to sinister Or, in base a sun of the third issuing from stylized mountain range of the second, in the flanks an open book surmounted by torch and a winged foot bend sinisterwise, toes downwards, of the third. Attached below the shield, a dark red scroll inscribed WILDCATS in Gold letters.


Symbolism

Burgundy (Soldier red) and white are the school colors. The wildcat is the schools mascot. The shield division signifies to the cadets determination to combine academics with athletics - the torch upon the open book denotes enlightenment to seek higher education and the winged foot of Hermes indicates athletic endeavor. The rising sun over the mountain range alludes to the schools motto We Can Climb Any Mountain.


Background
The shoulder loop Insignia was authorized on 27 February 2017.
