Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a vertical rectangle divided vertically white and maroon, arched convexly at top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border, the black top of a lighthouse with white lens emitting two yellow horizontal rays from a yellow flash. Attached above, a maroon scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border inscribed "DUNKIRK" in white letters. Attached below, a maroon scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border and inscribed "MARAUDERS" in white letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Maroon and white are the school colors. The lighthouse represents the Point Graitot lighthouse on Chadwick Bay, a topographical point in Lake Erie, and reflects the cadets' home area. The rays from the lighthouse lens symbolize the guiding light of education.

Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per fess Argent and of the like and Sanguine, in chief a billet Or voided of the field and charged with a panther passant Sable. Attached below the shield, a Silver scroll inscribed "PREPARING TO LEAD" in Maroon letters.

Symbolism
Maroon and white (silver) are the school colors. The school mascot is a panther. The heraldic panther on a gold field is taken from the civic arms of the original DUNKERQUE in Northern France.

The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 1 October 1996.
