Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a gray oval embroidered device 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 3 1/16 inches (7.78 cm) in width, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border displaying the head of a Bulldog wearing a white spiked collar with blue details. A blue oval shaped inner area surrounds the top of the dog's head. Arched above the Bulldog, is the inscription "LONG ISLAND CITY" in blue letters.

Symbolism
Blue and White are the school's colors. The Bulldog is the school's mascot.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 23 December 2005.




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per pale Azure and Argent on the dexter two swords in saltire Or, and on the sinister a lamp flamant of the like, on a chief of the first an open book White. Above the shield, the head of a Bulldog in Gold. Attached below the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed "LOYALTY INTEGRITY COURAGE" in base metal letters.

Symbolism
Blue and white are the school's colors. The open book represents academic excellence. The crossed swords allude to unlimited opportunity through education. The lamp is for knowledge and dedication to service. The Bulldog is the school's mascot.
