Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a yellow tear drop shape with a blue base edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, the yellow face and arm of a wizard emerging from base, his hat sem of yellow stars and crescents, grasping in his hand a blue torch with yellow flames outlined blue. Below the wizard, the inscription "WASHINGTONVILLE" in yellow letters. The overall dimensions are 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Blue and gold (yellow) are the school colors. The irregular shape of the insignia suggests the Hudson River Highlands, the home location of the school. The torch of knowledge reflects the cadets' education. The wizard, the school mascot, symbolizes the cadets' inner strength and self-motivation.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 26 November 1996.
