Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
A red shield-shaped device with arced scrolls attached above and below, the overall dimensions 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width; the shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, on which is a yellow eagle poised in flight. Above the shield, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border a red arced scroll inscribed "DOUGLAS BYRD" and below the shield a red arced scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border inscribed "EAGLES," all letters yellow, 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 28 May 1975.
Shoulder Loop Insignia
A gold color metal and enamel insignia 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a red shield on which is a gold eagle poised in flight with wings elevated. Attached below the shield a gold arced scroll inscribed "DOUGLAS BYRD" in red letters.
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 11 May 1976.
