Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a vertical rectangle, arched convexly at top and bottom, overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width an insignia blazoned: Azure, issuant from a chaplet of tobacco leaves in base Or, fimbriated Azure, an eagle's head Argent, detailed Sable, beaked and eyed of the second. All within a narrow Black border. Attached above the rectangle, a Gold scroll inscribed "EAST BLADEN" in Black letters and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border.

Symbolism
The eagle represents the commitment of the ROTC to serve country and community. The tobacco leaves refer to the agricultural tradition of East Bladen's County. The four tobacco leaves represent each of the upper school grades: Freshman (9th grade), Sophomore (10th grade), Junior (11th grade), Senior (12th grade). The school colors are Royal blue, white and gold.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved on 23 January 1973. It was amended 25 November 1991 and cancelled 8 May 2001. A new shoulder sleeve was approved on 8 May 2001.

Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per pale Azure and Argent a roundel countercharged displaying an eagle's head erased Or. Festooned at the bottom of the shield by a wreath of four tobacco leaves and beneath that a Blue scroll turned upwards Gold and inscribed "LEADERSHIP" in Gold letters.

Symbolism
Royal blue, white and gold are the school colors of East Bladen High School. The eagle is the school mascot. The tobacco represents the main agricultural crop of the region while each of the four leaves stands for one of the upper school grades.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia originally approved 15 November 1999 was cancelled. A new insignia was approved on 8 May 2001.
