Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On an orange horizontal ellipse edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) green border a white horizontal wavy band edged green supporting a green demi-alligator detailed black, eye orange, pupil and teeth white, to the right and above the description "EAST COLUMBUS" in green letters. The overall dimensions are 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Green and orange are the school colors. The wavy bands symbolize Lake Waccamaw, denoting the school's location. The school mascot, the alligator, is indigenous to the area and symbolizes the cadets' tenacious spirit.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 17 August 1998. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-592)

Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a silver shield charged with a green alligator, head to base diagonally from upper right to lower left, between ten orange diagonal bars to left, and the inscription "MEETING THE CHALLENGE" arcing to the right in orange letters.

Symbolism
Green and orange are the school colors. The alligator is the school mascot and is half submerged as in a lake, denoting the school's location near Lake Waccamaw and the indigenous nature of the mascot. The alligator is symbolic of the school's tenacious spirit. The shield shape and the diagonal stripes are symbolic of the two schools which combined to form East Columbus High School.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 5 February 1997.
