A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned: Per bend Sable and Argent (Silver Gray), in sinister chief a mullet Or, on a bend Celeste dexter chief a mullet of the third, overall a stylized falcon volant to sinister Argent. Attached above the shield a Black scroll inscribed "WEST ROWAN" in Silver letters. Attached below the shield a tripartite Black Scroll inscribed "INDUCO", "CAUSA", "DELEGO" in Silver letters.
North Carolina blue and white are the school colors. The Falcon is the school's mascot and represents the courage, cunningness, and vision that is instilled in the cadets to achieve their dreams. The two mullets symbolize the motivation of the cadets to never give up no matter how tough life may become. The school motto is "Induco, Causa, Delego" is Latin which translates to "Leads, Motivates, Commits" in English. The colors blue, white and black further symbolize the motto with blue being symbolic of devotion, loyalty, and sincerity; white representing truth, discretion, and maturity; and black signifying constancy, dignity, and determination.
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 8 April 2011.
