Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a dark blue rectangle arced at top and bottom, a gold and black tornado; attached above the rectangle a dark blue scroll inscribed "BUTLER" and attached below a dark blue scroll inscribed "TORNADO" in gold letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height and all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) gold border, the overall dimensions 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
The school colors are gold and blue. The mascot is the tornado.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 3 January 1986.

Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned: Or, a palet Argent and a chain overall fesswise throughout Azure, in dexter chief a sphere encircled by three orbital rings Azure counterchanged in sinister chief a balance scale superimposed by a torch, in dexter base a demi-Greek column and in sinister base five annulets interlaced fesswise above a wreath all Azure and all within a bordure Argent; attached below the shield a Blue scroll inscribed "FOR A BETTER TOMORROW" in Gold letters.

Symbolism
The design is adapted from the school's coat of arms and utilizes the school colors, gold and blue.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 3 January 1986.
