Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a horizontal rectangle edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) gray border and divided diagonally from upper left to lower right, dark blue over maroon, a white stone head war club pendant with two feathers. Attached above the rectangle a white scroll inscribed "SHIKELLAMY" in dark blue letters. Attached below the rectangle a white scroll inscribed "HIGH SCHOOL" in dark blue letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Dark blue, maroon and white are the school colors. The war club reflects the school mascot, the Native American Chief Shikellamy for whom the school is named and also reflects the cadets' "fighting" spirit.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 29 July 1996.




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a dark blue keystone bearing a silver tepee. Attached above a silver scroll inscribed "WHO DARES" in maroon letters. Attached below a silver scroll inscribed "WIN" in maroon letters.

Symbolism
Blue, maroon and white are the school colors. The keystone represents Pennsylvania and the tepee alludes to the Native American heritage of the school's namesake. It is taken from a monument to Conrad Weiser, Indian interpreter and friend of Shikellamy.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 29 July 1996.
