Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
On a rectangle arched at top divided wavy horizontally in chief yellow over blue and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border a yellow pirate's head affront with a black patch on his right eye, a black mustache and black goatee, and wearing a black and white polka dot bandana under a black tricorn hat. Attached below the rectangle a yellow scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "BUCCANEERS" in black letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height by 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width.
Black and yellow are the school colors. The pirate/buccaneer is the school mascot. The wavy background suggests the buccaneer seafaring life and the location of the school on the island of Puerto Rico.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved 5 May 1995.
Shoulder Loop Insignia
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned: Gules, on a chevron reversed Or a sword point to base in dexter and a quill in sinister Gold Brown, between in chief an anvil Sable and in base nine pellets pilewise. Attached below the shield a Black scroll inscribed "CIEM" in Gold letters.
Black and gold are the school colors. The sword represents the cadets as prepared citizens involved in their community. The anvil denotes them as strong and solid members of their school. The quill suggests they are informed and educated. The shield with rivets symbolizes the conquistadors and reflects the cadets' proud Puerto Rican heritage.
The shoulder loop insignia was approved 5 May 1995.
